Old Town or Harbour Quarter? A walking guide
Two neighbourhoods, two very different mornings. We walked both with a coffee in hand and a notebook.

Old Town: stone, shade and small shops
The Old Town wakes up slowly. Shutters open around eight, the bakeries are busy by half past, and by ten the squares are full of people who seem to have nowhere urgent to be.
Homes here are mostly townhouses and apartments in buildings from the 1800s, with thick walls that keep summers cool and courtyards that keep streets quiet.
Harbour Quarter: water, light and the ferry
The harbour is brighter and busier. Converted warehouses line the quay, and the best apartments face east over the water for the morning light.
Our honest take
Families with young children tend to choose the Old Town for its schools and car-free lanes. Couples and commuters often prefer the harbour and its ferry.
